ENGLISH - Membership Plan

Davenant Foundation School

Course Description

Welcome to our engaging and supportive English Tuition Programme for KS3 and KS4 students, covering both English Language and English Literature. Our sessions build literacy, confidence, and analytical thinking, preparing students for exam success and lifelong communication skills. Each student begins with a baseline assessment to identify strengths and areas for improvement. From this, our expert tutors create a personalised learning plan that ensures focused progress and visible results. Students develop a full range of English skills, including: Reading and Textual Analysis Exploring novels, plays, poetry, and non-fiction, students learn to analyse themes, characters, and language techniques, developing interpretation and critical insight. Writing for Purpose and Audience Through creative and transactional writing, students refine their structure, clarity, and vocabulary — learning to write with style and precision. Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG) Focused exercises improve sentence structure, accuracy, and fluency, enhancing both written and spoken communication. Exam Preparation and Practice Questions A key feature of our programme is exam readiness. Students practise extended responses and exam-style questions for both Language and Literature, developing strong essay planning, time management, and understanding of assessment objectives. Model answers, detailed feedback, and timed tasks help students approach every exam with confidence. Speaking and Communication Through debates and presentations, students build persuasive and confident speaking skills essential for both exams and future success. With our structured and inspiring approach, students gain not only academic achievement but also resilience, curiosity, and a lasting love for English. Our dedicated tutors support every learner to grow in skill, self-belief, and passion for language — becoming confident, articulate, and FutureProof Ready.
