Day 1: Systems Architecture and Memory (2 hours) Topic 1: Systems Architecture - CPU Overview: Discuss the role of the CPU as the brain of the computer. - Components: Explain the Control Unit (CU), Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), and Cache. - Fetch-Decode-Execute Cycle: Break down the steps involved in processing instructions. - Von Neumann Architecture: Introduce the concept of storing data and instructions in the - same memory. Topic 2: Memory - Primary Memory: Differentiate between RAM (volatile) and ROM (non-volatile). - Virtual Memory: Explain how the operating system uses hard drive space when RAM is full. Day 2: Storage and Networks (2 hours) Topic 3: Storage - Secondary Storage: Discuss HDDs, SSDs, optical storage (CDs/DVDs), and flash drives, including their advantages and disadvantages. - Storage Capacity: Explain data measurement units (bits, bytes, KB, MB, GB) and how to calculate storage needs. Topic 4: Networks - LANs and WANs: Define Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs) and their differences. - Networking Devices: Discuss routers, switches, and modems and their roles in communication. Day 3: Network Protocols and Security (2 hours) Topic 5: Network Protocols - TCP/IP and HTTP: Explain common protocols and their functions in data transmission. - Data Transmission Methods: Discuss wired and wireless methods. Topic 6: Network Security - Threats: Introduce malware, phishing, and denial of service attacks. - Preventive Measures: Discuss firewalls, encryption, and antivirus software. Day 4: System Software and Utility Software (2 hours) Topic 7: System Software - Operating Systems: Discuss the role of OS in managing hardware and software resources. - Functions of OS: Explain user interface, memory management, and multitasking. Topic 8: Utility Software - Types: Discuss backup, antivirus, disk management, and file compression utilities. Day 5: Ethical, Legal, and Environmental Issues (2 hours) Topic 9: Ethical Issues - Privacy and Data Protection: Discuss the importance of data privacy and ethical considerations in technology. Topic 10: Legal Issues - Copyright and Licensing: Explain intellectual property rights and software licensing laws. Topic 11: Environmental Impact E-Waste: Discuss the environmental impact of technology and ways to reduce e-waste. FutureProof Education Ltd – Terms and Conditions Enrollment and Membership Enrollment is confirmed upon completing the registration form and payment of program fees. Membership is valid for a fixed period or on a monthly rolling basis based on the program description and schedule. Membership fees are due on a monthly basis for weekly Saturday tuition sessions and full payment is required in advance for After-school programs and Holiday camps. Payment Terms Tuition Fees: All fees must be paid in full 72 hours in advance of the program start date. All Membership fees are due every four weeks from the start date of the membership. Attendance Mandatory Attendance: Students must attend scheduled lessons regularly. Absences must be communicated in advance. Repeated Absences FutureProof Education may review membership for consistent absenteeism. Centre-initiated Cancellations: If a session is cancelled, unfortunately we cannot offer refunds, reschedule lessons or provide alternative learning arrangements. Holiday Closure and Lesson Compensation Our Saturday Tuition and Afterschool clubs operates during term time only and closes during school holidays (e.g. October, December, February, April, May, August). Data Protection FutureProof Education complies with GDPR regulations and handles all personal data confidentially. Health and Safety Parents/guardians must inform FutureProof Education of any SEND, medical conditions or emergency medication needs upon registration of the process and any changes. FutureProof Education is not liable for injuries unless caused by negligence by its staff members. Behaviour and Conduct Students must behave respectfully. Disruptive behaviour may lead to suspension or expulsion without refund. Parents will be informed of any behavioural concerns and intervention in place. Cancellation and Termination - Parent-Initiated Cancellation Weekly Saturday Tuition must be cancelled no later than 4 week of the billing cycle. Holiday camps must be cancelled no later than 7 days of the first scheduled session. Termination by Centre For non-compliance or cancellations, membership may be terminated without refund of remaining fees. FutureProof Education reserves the right to amend these terms.
